i promised my anon from earlier that i’d give a recipe for vegan pizza the next time i made it, so here we are: vegan barbecue tofu pizza (oh baby)
i used this recipe for the crust and then i slathered on about 1/3 of a cup of pizza sauce, some fresh spinach, Daiya, more spinach (roughly a cup total), half an orange bell pepper and half a yellow bell pepper, a handful of chopped broccoli, some sweet onion (like vidalia) and then that sweet barbecue tofu, holy pete.

for the tofu:
half a block of extra firm tofu, cubed (drained, rinsed, and pressed*)
1/3 cup of barbecue sauce (check for veganess, i used Annie’s!)
1 tablespoon of soy sauce, tamari, or Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
1/2 cup of water
1/2 a tablespoon of sugar or agave nectar or maple syrup

combine all ingredients in a bowl and nuke it in the microwave for a few minutes.
then pour the barbecue mixture over your cubed tofu, (i let mine marinate for an hour or so but you’d be fine to skip this step and instead saute your tofu and then pour the sauce over it to coat, but make sure you use oil or a nonstick pan!) when i got home, i sauteed the tofu for a few minutes and lobbed it on to my unbaked pizza and threw her in the oven at 375-400 for about twenty five-ish minutes (or until the Daiya is all melted and crust is browned)

*do not forget to press your tofu! this is essential, guys. most folks who don’t like tofu and complain is has a “weird, squishy texture” haven’t had it prepared right. to press: first drain your tofu, then grab two clean kitchen towels, place your tofu between the two and then find some big, heavy books and stack ‘em on top of your tofu. press for 30 minute on both sides and now your tofu will be free to soak up all your wonderful marinades and sauces!
